Wednesday's Body Inspiration

My Girl Mel B aka Melanie Brown aka Scary Spice. No matter what you call her, her body is on POINT! She seemingly went from this....

To, in what seemed like overnight (But we KNOW it took hours in the gym and discipline), this:

And check her out on this past season's Dancing With The Stars!!! FAB!

Daily Food and Fitness Diary - 2/6/2008

Breakfast:

  • Dannon DanActive Probiotic Immunity Yogurt Drink in Strawberry (90 Calories, 1.5g Fat): WHEW what a MOUTHFUL! From now on I will be refering to this little gem as simply DanActive. I picked this up on a whim last night at WallyWorld. It's supposed to "help stregthen my body's defenses"....we'll see. If I so much as SHIFFLE, I'm writing Dannon! Just Kidding. But, overall it was good. Suprisingly, I'm not put off my the consistency (I am a real stickler for food textures). I would repurchase.

  • Special K Bar in Vanilla Crisp (90 Calories, 1.5g Fat): I LOVE these things. They remind me of a Rice Crispy Treat. Which is kind of bad because one night I ate like 3 of them!! (I REALLY need to control my late night snacking)

  • Banana (aprx 105 Calories)

Total Breakfast Calories: 285. Not Bad!

Mid Morning Snack:

  • Aprx. a Handful of Cascadian Farms Granola in Cinnamon Raisin (Aprx. 200 Calories): I heart granola. And, this brand is organic..........if that means anything! (Maybe I'll do a post about the benefits of organic food.......because honestly, I'm not too sold, yet)

Lunch:

  • Lean Cuisine Chicken Philly Flatbread Melt (330 Calories, 8g Fat): WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN ALL MY LIFE?! I am obsessed with Lean Cuisine's new Flatbread Series! I thought the Panini's where the TOP, until these came along. YUMMY!! I'm sure that these frozen meals are not ENTIRELY good for you, but when you are pressed for time and you need portion/calorie control like me, then these are the way to go.

  • 100 Calorie Pack Carrot Cake (100 Calories): They've packaged one of my FAV sweets of all time into 3 teeny weeny (And I mean TEENY WEENY) cupcake shaped cakes. I LOVE them.......I have to force myself to eat just one pack!

  • Golden Delicious Apple (aprx 72 Calories) I sweat Golden Delicious Apples! MMMMMM!

Total Lunch Calories: 502 Calories. YIKES! That seems like a LOT to me!

Mid Day Snack:

  • Bachman Pretzel Stix Pack (100 Calories)

  • Cheese Stick (60 Calories)

Dinner:

  • Dole Packaged Salad (Sweet Baby Greens) with Grilled Chicken Breast, Cucumbers, Cherry Tomatoes, Orange Peppers and Kraft Free Ranch Dressing (Aprx 210 Calories)

TOTAL DAILY CALORIES: 1,357 Overall, it was a good day. I'm between 1,200 and 1,500 calories which is my personal daily goal.

FITNESS:

  • 40 Minutes of Chisel Class: LAWD HAVE MERCY!!! This class is held at my local gym and it's 60 minutes of body toning. It utilizes hand weights, body bars, resistance bands, exercise ball, and various floor moves. This particular night the instructer went CRAZY on the squats! I couldn't take it after a while....my legs where on FIRE!! I lasted 40 minutes! Hey, I was still getting over Sunday's Chisel class!
  • 40 minutes of Treadmill: Level 1 various inclines, 4.0-4.2 speed. I definetly can push myself more on the treadmill.....and I will start!

In summary, I think I had a GREAT day....One day at time!

If at first you don't succeed....

......Dust Yourself Off and TRY AGAIN!

Hey All!!! I'm Back! I know I've abandoned my blog for the past 3 weeks...but, if you're out there struggling with your weight, then you know how hard it is! And honestly, I've been having a tough time. I wasn't eating right, wasn't exercising, and worst off all, I wasn't putting any EFFORT in! I was making up a bunch of EXCUSES, but I wasn't really trying! I tend to do that a lot....and, I'm trying to work on it. Hopefully, I haven't lost all of my loyal readers, I know that I only have but a few. And, I appreciate your support GREATLY! So, I'm getting back on the horse, and I want to go full speed!

Random: So, I'm at the gym Sunday....going HARD at various inclines on the treadmill and someone is passing the most RAUNCHY bodily gasses I have ever had the displeasure of smelling. I had to change treadmills because everytime the smell would come around, I would lose all focus and almost fall off the TREADMILL!!!

Also, who told me it was a good idea to jump right into my gym's Chisel class (body toning) after being MIA from it for over 6 months???!!! I can't extend my legs nor lift my arm to wave hello! But, you know what they say: No Pain, No Gain!

Hey, tomorrow's Wednesday and I'm trying to figure out who should be the Body Inspiration....any suggestions?

Daily Food and Fitness Diary - 1/14/2008

VERY BAD DAY!!! Started off good, had a Vegan Breakfast Wrap and some pineapple.....then "THE WORK TRAP" got a hold of me!!! The client that I'm auditing ordered Pizza for everyone who came in (because Mass. got a BUTT load of snow today!!)...so I had 2 slices! And when I finally made it back to my hotel room this evening I was STARVING!! And what met my nose in the hotel lobby? The sweet scent of hot wings and freshly baked cookies!!! So, needless to say I had a gang of calories today! But I am going to take my butt downstairs to the gym and hit that treadmill!!!

Tomorrow is a new day!

Well, it's the start of "Busy Season" in "Auditor World"...this means HIGH stress, LONG hours, WAY TOO MUCH work, etc. And, to top it off, I'm out of town in Massachusetts. So, I'm REALLY going to try to make healthy food choices even though I'm eating out for the next 2 weeks!!! Sigh...It's going to be a struggle, but I can do it if I try! And, the hotel I am staying at has a gym, so once I'm done with my 12-15 hour days, I'm going to try to get some exercise in. WISH ME LUCK!!!!

The Work Trap

Nothing can be more deadly to a healthy eating program than WORK!

So, today I come into worked all hyped to have a "good" day. And, I start off well. I have a Soy Southwest Style Breakfast Burrito (I LOVE these) and a Banana for breakfast. I forgo a mid morning snack because I was honest with myself and said I wasn't hungry and could wait for lunch. So lunch comes and I have my Lean Cuisine Chicken and Spinach Panini..............and then it walks in: A tray of "goodies" I try to fight it....I try...but I cave!! A white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie!!!!! Damn.

It seems like every time you turn there is ALWAYS something to tempt you at work...someone brought in freshly baked cookies, catered meetings, give aways, free lunch days, vending machines, co-workers cute kid selling Girl Scout Cookies, office parties, etc.

HOW DO YOU STAY AWAY??!!

I need some self control. Does any one know of any ways to distract your self? Or of any alternative snacks to pack so you don't feel "left out" while everyone else is indulging?
